News Detail

Feb, 2018

Registration has Closed; Wait List Open

Harlem Little League's Spring 2018 registration period has now ended. We do maintain a wait list in all divisions. We still have a number of spaces available in our tee ball division for ages 5-6; limited spots remain in other divisions. To join the wait list, log on to our website and complete the pre-registration process.

The wait list is a list of children who did not register on time and wish to play on a team. Harlem Little League will review what spaces are available, if any, in each division. The wait list is first-come, first-served. When you are on the wait list there is no guarantee your child will be able to register and play. Our player agent will notify you by email if a space is available. Since very few spaces open up during the season, you may want to find an alternate youth baseball program for your child.

Here is full registration information for 2018:

Financial Aid

The League will waive all or part of the registration fee if you need financial assistance. No child will be turned away from Harlem Little League because of an inability to pay. Therefore, you should register your child on time and not let a lack of funds stop you from registering.

We encourage families to pay at least a portion of the fee for each child. Our fees are kept deliberately low (lower than that of other leagues) in an attempt to make it possible for everyone to play. The actual cost to run this program is about $175 per player. If you need financial assistance, please let us know what amount, if any, you can contribute by clicking on this link to request financial aid. All information will be kept confidential.

Skills Assessments

Skills Assessments will be held in February. All players new to Harlem Little League with a league age of 7 or older are expected to attend. This is NOT a tryout, merely an opportunity for our coaches to evaluate a child's skills so that we can best try and balance our team assignments.

Season Schedule

Practice typically begins in mid-March and our annual Opening Day Parade and first games will be played on Saturday, April 7. The season runs through Saturday, June 30.

Practices are held on at least one weekday afternoon each week; games are held on weekends, with children ages 7+ generally playing both Saturdays and Sunday afternoons.

Tournament Teams

Each season, Harlem Little League enters teams in the Little League Baseball Postseason Tournaments. These teams are made up of players aged 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14 who are selected through a tryout process. Extra practices are required and play in the tournament begins in late June and extends until teams are eliminated from contention. All tournaments are double-elimination leading up to the Little League World Series in August in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Our 2017 Juniors Tournament Team won the District Title and advanced all the way to the Sectional Championship Game, playing well into July.

Another opportunity for increased playing time comes over the Memorial Day Weekend, when Harlem Little League generally participates in a fun, round-robin style tournament with other teams in Manhattan.
