26th Opening Day Parade and Games – Saturday, April 12th

alg-harlem-little-leagueOur 26th Annual Opening Day Games and Parade is Saturday April 12th, 2014.  Parade starts at 9:00 AM with events, and games to follow.

OPENING DAY PARADE:  Meet at the P.S. 175 Schoolyard, located on West 135th (between Adam Clayton Powell, Jr Boulevard (7th Avenue) and Malcolm X Boulevard (Lenox Avenue).  Parade steps off at 9 AM.
OPENING CEREMONY: At 10am a short program will be held at The Marcus Garvey Park Amphitheater, at Madison & 124th St.
AFTER THE CEREMONY:  Teams will proceed to their respective fields for games.

BMOOur sponsor, the BMO Capital Markets African American League of Professionals New York, has held a bake sale for the past five years to raise funds to sponsor their two AALPsNY teams.  This year’s bake sale was another success!  Look at these beautiful bake goods. Registration will re-open for players ages 4-12 on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at 3 AM. Registration was listed incorrectly as passed because we were in the process of updating our categories.

Next week we will announce our winners of the $25 Modells gift cards for registering by February 17th!

IlovebaseballLove Baseball?  We do!!!    Any one who registers for Harlem Little League by February 17th will be entered into a drawing for a Modells’ gift card.

Registration is open to children ages 4*-16 by April 30, 2014.  Children who are 4 years old must have their parent/guardian coach.  No exceptions.  Registration is also open to children who go to school within Harlem Little League boundaries which is 120th Street to 160th Street River to River and 110th Street to 120th Street from 5th to 8th Avenues.

Fee is $75.  Financial Aid and Scholarships Available. No child denied admission because the family cannot pay the fee.



CHANGE OF LOCATION OF SKILLS ASSESSMENTS – Saturday, February 22nd and March 1st:   Skills Assessments for New Players ages 8-16 by April 30, 2014 will be held at Jackie Robinson Recreation Center, 146th Street and Bradhurst, 2nd Floor from 9 am to 11 am.   For more information about Skills Assessments, go to FAQ’s.

If you attend school in Harlem Little League boundaries, your child can play. Parents need to email or mail an official school document, such as a report card or school enrollment form, confirming enrollment in the school within the boundaries for the current academic year, dated before October 1, 2013.

You can register your child if he or she is 4 by April 30, 2014 AND you commit to be a coach on his or her team.  There are no exceptions.  If you need more information about the requirements, please email registrar at

Tournament Teams in Little League District Championship!

Harlem Little League’s AAA and Major Teams are in District 23′s Championship!  Today, the 9-10′s beat Downtown Little League 15-9.  Our 11-12′s beat West Side Little League 7-5.

On Monday, July 8th, both teams play at 5:30 pm.  Our AAA tournament team plays Kingsbridge Little League at Inwood Park Field, Dyckman Street and Hudson River.   Our Majors play Peter Stuyvesant Little League at 104th Street and Riverside Drive.  Harlem has to beat these teams twice to win the District Championship.  Harlem All Day, Every Day!! Go Harlem!!

9-10′s and 11-12′s with one loss each battle for a spot to play in the District 23 Championships.  Because of rain on Wednesday, both teams resume play Friday, July 5th at 5:30 pm. 9-10′s play at Shea Field, 120th Street and Fifth. 11-12′s play at 104th Street and Riverside Drive.  Harlem  All Day, Everyday!!  Go Harlem!!

Free Mini-Medical Camp for 6th-8th Graders
The MedStart Enrichment program at Mount Sinai School of Medicine is designed for middle-school students (6-8th grade) who are interested in science and medicine or who would benefit from a more interactive approach to learning. Each summer, they hold a one-week “mini-medical school” camp that is completely FREE to participants – MetroCards, lunch, t-shirts, BLS certification and trophies are all provided without any cost to students who are accepted to the program.

GET PAID AS A HLL TEEN UMPIRE:  Harlem Little League has a long history of training and paying our teens for umpiring games. It is a wonderful opportunity to make money and be a role model to younger players.  If you or someone you know is 14-18 years olds and is committed to learning umpiring, you can attend our Teen Umpires Clinic, Saturday March 9th and Saturday, March 16th at the Jackie Robinson Recreation Center, 146th Street and Bradhurst Avenue at 11 am -1 pm.  Clinic run by our Umpire-in-Chief, Malcolm de Castro will be your trainer!  Must attend both sessions.  For more information, please email
