Harlem Little League COVID Safety Information and Resources

Harlem Little League would like to welcome back all participants to the Spring 2021 Season. Our No. 1 priority is ensuring the health and safety of our players, families and volunteers. In order to accomplish this, we are asking that everyone do their part by familiarizing themselves with our safety guidelines/rules and adhere to them while at the field. Your cooperation with these guidelines is greatly appreciated.

COVID-19 Safety Guidelines

Physical Distancing and Face Coverings

 1. All players, volunteers and spectators agree to maintain at least 6 feet distance between one another and to follow all posted signage or markings on and surrounding the field. If a shorter distance is required (e.g. during practice or play) individuals must wear face coverings, unless players are unable to medically tolerate such a covering during the physical activity. Coaches, trainers, and/or other individuals who are not directly engaged in activity are required to wear face coverings if they are medically able to do so. If you or your child are unable to wear a face covering for medical reasons, please email documentation stating such from a medical provider to Samisha Brimmage, Harlem Little League safety officer.

2. Spectators for all league activities are limited to two per participant. Spectators must practice social distancing unless they are with members of their household or close social contacts.

3. Participants will not congregate once practices or games have concluded. All  athletes, coaches and spectators must leave the field immediately and remain distanced from incoming attendees.

Hygiene

1. Hand-washing: We recommend you wash your hands often with soap and water. When soap and water is not available, HLL will provide alcohol-based hand sanitizer for volunteers, coaches and players.

2. Provide your child with a labeled water bottle not to be shared with another individual.

3. Provide your child with a USA Little League approved bat and his or her own glove. Please label your child's belongings and explain to them that unfortunately, they should not share with others due to the circumstances.

4. Please note: If any provided equipment by the league is shared, it will be cleaned and disinfected between innings. Common areas and shared surface will also be cleaned.

Test and Trace Protocols

1. You must provide your full name and updated contact information for the league's records to aid in test and trace efforts, if necessary.

2. If a participant or attendee tests positive for COVID-19 after the scheduled activity, you must notify the league immediately. The league must cooperate with all contact tracing efforts, including notification of the NYC Health Department and Test and Trace in order to notify potential contacts who had close contact with the individual, while maintaining confidentiality as required by state and federal law and regulations.

3. If a player or member of a household has been put on quarantine by the NYC Health Department because of exposure at an activity other than Harlem Little League, the player/family member must not attend any league-sanctioned events (practices, games, etc.) until they have finished their necessary quarantine period.

Health Screening and Notifications

1. Parents/guardians and volunteers must notify the league of:
(1) Positive COVID-19 test in past 10 days, and or
(2) Close contact with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 cases in past 14 days. All responses will be reviewed and documented.
(3) I understand that no player, volunteer or spectators experiencing COVID-19 symptoms should enter the activity space or surrounding areas.
Notification can be sent to Stephanie Washington, HLL president, and Samisha Brimmage, HLL safety officer. All information will be held in confidence except where required for test and trace efforts.

Necessary Equipment

Players must provide their own glove and athletic cup (boys only). Given the public health crisis, Harlem Little League recommends each player also have their own USA Baseball approved bat and batting helmet, labeled with their name and not shared with any other participants. However, as in year's past, managers have been provided equipment for the team, so if cost is a barrier, bats and helmets are provided for use and will be sanitized between innings.
