AAA and Majors Divisions, ages 9-12
As players progress through Harlem Little League, the program gets more competitive in our AAA and Majors Divisions. Both of these divisions are kid pitch and players are eligible to try out for post-season tournaments to represent Harlem Little League in the Little League Baseball International Tournament.
The AAA Division practices one afternoon/evening a week and plays games on Saturdays and Sundays at Holcombe Rucker Park. The Majors Division practices one afternoon/evening a week and plays games on Saturdays, Sundays, and some weeknights at Marcus Garvey Park.
Reflective of the more competitive nature of these divisions, Harlem Little League has instituted a new skills-based alignment (rather than age-based as in season's past). The following policy remains in effect for the Spring 2025 season:
- Players ages 9-11 who wish to play in the Majors Division must attend an assessment to determine their eligibility for the higher division. Players will be assessed on their general baseball abilities, including but not limited to (1) Ability to consistently catch and throw the baseball (2) Ability to consistently make contact while hitting and (3) General understanding of baseball rules.
- Based on the results of the assessment, players with a baseball age of 9-11 will be placed in the appropriate division based on their skill-level, not age.
- The assessment is mandatory for any players who wish to be considered for the Majors Division and have a league age of 9, 10, or 11 years old. Those who are baseball age 12 must play in the Majors Division.
- If players do not attend the mandatory assessment, they will be placed in the age-appropriate division (9-10 years for AAA; 11-12 for Majors).
Cost: $150
Seniors Division, ages 13-16
Our Seniors Division plays an interleague schedule, with home games and practices in Harlem and away games at various fields in and around Manhattan. Players in our Seniors Division are eligible to try out for the post-season Little League Baseball International Tournament. In the past, participation in the Seniors Division has exceeded available roster spots and a tryout has been required for regular season participation.
Cost: $150
Girls Softball, ages 10-14
Our Girls Softball division encompasses two teams, who play an interleague schedule against other teams in and around Manhattan. Home games and practices are held at Marcus Garvey Park.
